Adele- "Hometown Glory"

I've been walking in the same way as I did
Missing out the cracks in the pavement
And tutting my heel and strutting my feet
"Is there anything I can do for you dear? Is there anyone I can call?"
"No and thank you, please Madam. I ain't lost, just wandering"

Round my hometown
Memories are fresh
Round my hometown
Ooh the people I've met
Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of this world
Are the wonders of my world

I like it in the city when the air is so thick and opaque
I love to see everybody in short skirts, shorts and shades
I like it in the city when two worlds collide
You get the people and the government
Everybody taking different sides

Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit
Shows that we are united
Shows that we ain't gonna take it
Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit
Shows that we are united

Round my hometown
Memories are fresh
Round my hometown
Ooh the people I've met

Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of this world
Are the wonders of my world

"The Little Birds"- A Poem

There is a small, clean incision,
Of a circle right above my heart.
And sometimes when I’m drifting in and out of dreams,
Day or night,
Passion drips from it.
Little fluttery birds come,
And collect the magic elixir.
They say grace,
Then scramble out of my window,
 To preserve the succulent nectar.
Branches of trees sway in anticipation,
And the sun peeks over to see what the fuss is about.
The winged creatures stretch their feathers
With hope of a new day.
My passion is stored in little bottles,
Hidden in the shadow-filled spaces of their trees.
And every night the birds come back,
To say hello.
I share with them a little part of me,
To keep and treasure,
Since no one else seems to understand as well as they do.

"Dear Brother"- A Poem

Dear Brother,
I sit here and wonder what life will be like
When we’re adults.

Will you remember that time?
That time when I stuffed confetti down your pants on Easter
And you cried
Because Mom wouldn’t let you get revenge?
Will you remember that while you watch your kids
Have a water balloon fight in your backyard?

Will you remember that time?
That time when I screamed at you
Because you weren’t washing the dishes fast enough
And that you should just let me do it, because I do it better anyways?
Will you remember that while you’re scrubbing a plate in your sink,
And your wife is telling you you’re using the wrong sponge?

Will you remember that time?
That time when I played Legos with you and we built a clubhouse
With a tiny balcony/dance floor
And when Dad came home he didn’t care to look at it?
Will you remember that when you help your son
Build a cabin with his Lincoln Logs?

I just wanted to make sure,
Because maybe you’ll be too busy,
Or stressed.
Or maybe you’ll just sincerely forget.
The happy memories
Slipping away down the river of your mind.

I hope not.
Please,
I hope they stay.

To see the sea...

"We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back from whence we came."

"The Bathroom Stalls"- A Poem

I lock the door and I’m alone,
And the walls…
Those scribbled, dirty walls begging to be written on
They call to me.
“Nothing cruel,” they say,
“We don’t like harsh words.”
The one on the end
Wants to tell someone they’re beautiful
And that Brandon L. isn’t a jerk,
He just wants to feel accepted.
The middle one is longing for you to realize that
You have to find the good in people,
Even if it’s the obtuseness of Tiffany M.
Carvings and the potent smell of hot pink permanent marker,
Can explain why Jordan R. can’t be forgiven
Because of the fiasco with Ashley E.
But that stone and plastic can only hold so much
Negativity.
Until someday, a bright fortunate soul
Will take a black marker and erase the stings and distress,
With a few drops of hope.
Just one simple phrase
Which contains a whole lot of advice,
“Thou shall love thy neighbor…
As thyself.”
