"Heaven is a Town"- A Poem

Heaven is a town
Where people sit
And talk about the way
Hot chocolate
Feels on an arctic day
Heaven is a town
Where people stop
To pick up
The change someone
Dropped in the grocery store
Heaven is a town with lots of
Flowers in hanging metal baskets
And fall festivals with funnel cake
Heaven is a town
Where things move a little slower
And people act a little nicer
But their children still laugh at
The thought of a summer rainstorm
Heaven is a town
Where porch swings still exist
And kids prowl the streets
Seeking hideaways in tree houses
Heaven is a town
Where your neighbors
Actually know you
And come over on Fridays
To visit and celebrate the weekend
Heaven is a town
Where things stay the same
Every year
Frozen completely in life’s
Bliss.

"I Don''t Trust Myself (With Loving You)"- John Mayer

No I'm not the man I used to be lately
See you met me at an interesting time
If my past is any sign of your future
You should be warned before I let you inside

Hold on to whatever you find baby
Hold on to whatever will get you through
Hold on to whatever you find baby
I don't trust myself with loving you

I will beg my way into your garden
I will break my way out when it rains
Just to get back to the place where I started
So I can want you back all over again

Hold on to whatever you find baby
Hold on to whatever will get you through
Hold on to whatever you find baby
I don't trust myself with loving you

Who do you love?
Girl I see through, through your love
Who do you love me or the thought of me?
Me or the thought of me?

Hold on to whatever you find baby
Hold on to whatever will get you through
Hold on to whatever you find baby
I don't trust myself with loving you

Hold on to whatever you find baby
Hold on to whatever gets you through through
Hold on to whatever you find baby
I don't trust myself with loving you

Defeat

"Life can't ever really defeat a writer who is in love with writing, for life itself is a writer's lover until death--fascinating, cruel, lavish, warm, cold, treacherous constant."

"In English Class"- A Poem

In English class
Words boil over
In a hot alphabet soup
I do not want to write
an
Expository paragraph
I want to write a
poem
Personal narratives, journal entries
I need to write a
poem
And the words flow softer,
quieter.
Finished as he’s critiquing
Telling, explaining what
We do so terribly
While I do wrong
Instead of right,
By writing what I love to
write,
Poems.
